Thanks! I can't decide if I want to keep picking at it or start throwing parts at it. On a really good track and if I got the shifts a little quicker I think it would run a couple tenths better. I am about to the point where I am ready to see if the 65mm TB will help it.

Thanks, it normally runs 97-98 mph, I wish I knew what produced the 13.599 @101.71 at 3310 lbs on Monday. The motor may have been cooler? I think the tires may have had a pound more air? But 4 mph? That's the only time it's been over 100.

What do you think it would take to get a 12.99? Would Long tubes and 65mm TB do it?

in the 1/8 my mph for times in the low 8.5's is usually around 79mph. So yes the mph does seem a bit low for the E.T. Maybe the MPH cones could have been spaced a little off or maybe you were shifting gears at that particular time.

I too am wanting to know what more it'll take to dip into the 12's. Though I don't have much more I can do without going into the engine or stripping the interior. According to online calculators; it'll take runnin an 8.19 - 8.20 in the 1/8 for a 12.99 1/4.

I have no plans to strip the interior. I think these cars should be fun to drive #1. I need to figure out what I am going to do about the body damage. But I have been thinking about dropping the exhaust and bolting on a set of long tubes leave them open. Put the 65 mm on. Maybe reverse a tensioner and bypass the AC. Trailer it to a track one day this fall and see if I can get a high 12. If that doesn't work I have thought about porting the stock intake or putting the explorer top end on from my old motor. But i really don't want to open it up.

I'm trying to see how fast I can get mine also with out unsealing the engine.
So far my best has been 8.37 at 80mph with a 1.72 60ft. I have had a 1.71 60ft time, but broke the shift handel on that run. But still a long way to go to get an 8.19 - 8.20.
Not sure how long I'll be able to keep from going into the engine though with over 145,000 miles.

My 89 had around 230k when I retired it. Taking it to the standing mile killed the valve springs, started floating over 4k rpm. You should be good for many more miles.

Try the old tricks ice the intake. Remove the head light to get more fresh air in. Pull everything out of the trunk.

Back in the day with my coupe I was stuck at 13.3 @ 100 for the longest time. That was stock intake/tb/shorty headers/offroad/4.10s/M+H G60s/short belt/90-10s launching it hard. Sure a few other small things.(was back in 1993 or 94 hard to remember, lol)

    Made a huge difference swapping to a Saleen/Vortech intake with a 65mm tb/73mm C+L maf and longtubes. Car started running 12.8-12.9s @ 104 to 105.

.4-.5 for maf, TB, intake and headers is huge. I would have never guessed that it would be that big of an improvement.

I too am wondering if swapping intakes will gain me 2 tenths. I have a Holley Systemax II sitting at home. But If I went that far I'd also replace the lifters, rockers, and springs while I'm in there.
I already have long tube headers, o/r H-pipe, dumped cat-back, 70mm throttle body, 94 GT mass air meter, no AC and smog pump, electric fan and underdrive pullies. I'm running bias ply 26x10.5 Mickey Thompson ET Street R's at 14.5 psi and skinnies up front.

The trunk has been empty for years now. Even the 6x9 speaker that were installed in the package tray. One literally fell out. The other was hanging on by only one screw.
I do want to get a tubular front end sometime down the road. Other than that, about the only thing I can do at this point is to strip the interior and go into the engine. And I'd still like to go as fast as I can on the stock factory sealed engine first.
I might could launch at a little higher rpm. I've been leaving around 4300k. Since I was bracket racing and in the points; I wanted to keep things consistent.

The next thing I will be doing to my car is body work. After that I think I will put the 65mm TB and Long tubes. I want to get some super quiet muffles with cut outs before the mufflers for the track.
